Who are we

Concise and clear, we want every Groningen student to have space and inspiration for their philosophy of life. The space and inspiration to identify life’s questions, discuss visions on life and develop a critical but respectful attitude towards philosophy of life.

The SKLO and the Building
What is the meaning of life, how valuable is it, and how can we fulfill it? We believe that these questions, along with many others, deserve an important place in the lives of students. That is why we are committed to encouraging and promoting reflection on life. As a foundation, called the Student Association for Philosophical Organizations in Groningen, we focus specifically on students.
Our goal is to support and encourage students to think about existential issues through various activities. We provide financial support and promote cooperation between the various organizations involved. As SKLO, we map these initiatives, act as a recognizable point of contact and provide the necessary financial resources by attracting subsidies and funds. Furthermore, the SKLO fulfills a connecting role between various student organizations, individual students and higher education institutions.
In addition to coordinating information dissemination and managing financial resources, the SKLO acts as a platform where intellectual and philosophical ideas are developed and exchanged in open dialogue. We are proud that, thanks to the SKLO, we are creating space for philosophical initiatives in Groningen and thus contributing to a broad, scientific and spiritual education of students.
